Terms of Service

Version of 26 September 2026. These terms apply to your use of Picture Lock. They are written

to Australian law. They are not legal advice, and the liability clause should be checked by a

lawyer before you rely on it in a dispute.

Written against what the software does today. Claims most likely to go stale are marked ⚠️.

---

1. What this is

Picture Lock is video editing software. You supply footage. It measures the footage, then cuts, grades,

reframes, captions and scores it to match a style — where a style is a set of measurements taken from real

videos, not a filter preset.

⚠️ What it is not: it does not generate footage, it does not invent a person, and it does not make a real

person say something they did not say.

2. Your account

You need a working email address. One person or business per account. You are responsible for what happens

under your login, so keep the password to yourself and turn keys off when you stop using them.

You can delete your account at any time, from inside the product, and it deletes for real — see

RETENTION.md.

3. What you may upload

Footage you own, or have permission to use. That includes the people in it: if somebody is on camera, you

need their permission to be there.

For voice cloning, you need recorded consent from the person whose voice it is. The software checks for it

and will refuse without it. Working around that check is a breach of these terms.

What you may not upload or make is in MODERATION.md.

4. What we do with your footage

We edit it. We measure it. We keep it for as long as RETENTION.md says and then delete it.

⚠️ We do not train models on your footage, and we do not add your videos to the style library. The style

library is built from publicly available videos measured for that purpose, and your account's work is not

part of it. This is a promise about today that must stay true or this clause must change.

⚠️ A downscaled copy of your finished video is sent to Google's Gemini API so a model can check it came

out properly. This is set out in PRIVACY.md §2.

5. What you pay

Everything you do on Picture Lock is priced in credits. A plan gives you a number of credits each

month; each action spends a fixed number of them. Both numbers are below, and both are what the software

actually charges — they are read from the same tables the billing code uses, not restated by hand.

Plans — the monthly credit allowance for each:

| Plan | Credits per month | Price |

|---|---|---|

| Free | 120 | Free |

| Hobby | 150 | $12 / month |

| Creator | 450 | $35 / month |

| Pro | 1,440 | $99 / month |

| Studio | 5,400 | $350 / month |

What each action costs, in credits:

| Action | Credits |

|---|---|

| Edit a clip | 18 |

| Build a style of your own | 25 |

| Talking head | 20 |

| Carousel | 15 |

| Website | 40 |

| Explainer | 40 |

| Voice-over | 12 per minute |

How the month works. Credits are granted at the start of each billing period and do not roll over.

Running out stops new renders; it does not touch anything you have already made, and editing what you

already have stays unlimited on every paid plan. Cancelling stops the next grant and the next charge — the

period you have paid for runs to its end.

These are the same figures the software already runs on: the affiliate programme computes its 30%

recurring share from this exact table, so a price stated here that differed from the code would mean

partners were paid against a number customers never agreed to.

Overage is not sold. Running out of credits stops new renders until the next period; there is no

automatic top-up and no surprise line on your card. Editing what you have already made stays

unlimited on every paid plan, so a month that runs out limits what you can *generate*, not what you

can finish.

What is already true in the software and must survive into the final terms:

floating-point rounding.

does not match what was ordered, is charged zero. This is enforced by checking the actual output file.

then abandoned, the charge is zero and the job says plainly that the cause was ours.

charges nothing; it is a safety limit, not a billing event.

⚠️ Refunds: to be written. Under Australian Consumer Law, consumer guarantees cannot be contracted out

of, and a terms page that says "no refunds under any circumstances" is unenforceable and worse than saying

nothing. A lawyer needs to write this clause.

6. Who owns what

You own your footage. Uploading it does not give it to us. You give us permission to process and store it

only so far as is needed to do the work you asked for, and that permission ends when the footage is deleted.

You own the videos you make. Use them commercially, edit them, sell what they advertise. We do not take a

share and we do not claim a licence in your output.

We own the software and the style library.

A style is measured as numbers — cut timings, framing, grade — and those numbers are applied to your

footage. We do not copy, store or redistribute anybody else's video, and nothing of theirs appears in what

you get back. Our position is that an arrangement of timings and framing is not protectable as against the

creator whose work was measured, in the way that a tempo or a shot length is not.

7. Music and sound

Music comes from a library of licensed tracks, mostly Creative Commons Attribution. **Where a track requires

attribution, that attribution is generated with the video and it is your job to keep it** in the caption or

the description when you post. Stripping it breaches the track's licence, which is between you and the

composer.

Sound effects are synthesised by us. Nothing to attribute.

8. Availability

We will try to keep it working. ⚠️ We do not offer an uptime guarantee and will not pretend to. Scheduled

work will be announced where we can.

9. Ending it

You can stop whenever you like. We can end an account that breaches these terms — see

MODERATION.md — and other than for illegal content we will tell you why and let you export

what you have made.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the

Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer under that law, those

guarantees apply and these terms are read subject to them.

Where the Australian Consumer Law permits us to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a

guarantee (other than a guarantee relating to title, undisturbed possession or undisclosed securities),

our liability is limited, at our option, to:

Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss

of goodwill, loss of anticipated savings, or for any indirect or consequential loss; and our total

liability for everything arising out of these terms in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid

us in that period.

We do not limit liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for

anything else a limitation is not permitted for.

11. Changes

We will tell you before a change that affects what you pay or what happens to your data takes effect.

12. Law

Picture Lock is operated by Dheeraj Mahtani from Australia.

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the

non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. Nothing here takes away a right you have under the law of the

place you live.
